ViaLite HD - Launched at IBC 2009

11th September 2009 - PPM launched ViaLiteHD, a completely new RF-over-Fibre (RFoF) product range, at IBC2009. ViaLiteHD provides innovative solutions to problems encountered with the transport, monitoring and control of RF signals across a range of sites and installations.

The major new innovations that ViaLiteHD introduces are:-

  • High Density RF channel count, up to 13 RF to fibre converter cards per chassis.
  • New DUAL transmitter or receiver technology allows up to 26 RF channels per chassis.
  • Blind mating hot swappable cards, allowing users to upgrade systems or change configuration without breaking optical or electrical connections, which has been seen as a major user request.
  • Local and remote (via SNMP) monitoring and programming of key RF characteristics such as link gain and signal powers.
  • Options of outdoor equipment, for up to 80 RF channels, making direct to antenna installations simple and easy to accommodate.

ViaLiteHD, shown below, builds on the success of PPM’s ViaLite product range, which has been in the market for nearly 10 years, and has been adopted by many major satellite service operators and broadcasters.  ViaLiteHD is a new ground up design, based on extensive user feedback and the latest operational requirements that our customers face. The resulting product range provides both improved performance over conventional RF-over-Fibre products and numerous advanced management features to meet today’s demanding applications.

ViaLiteHD is launched ready with cards for L-band, IF, S-band, C-band, UHF, 10MHz and a host of accessories and is scheduled to commence shipping to lead customers in the first quarter of 2010.
